We install specialist optical connectors for industrial, naval and defence applications. We work on site with portable, factory-equivalent equipment — producing and certifying patch cords and full routes directly at the point of operation, with no dependency on pre-manufactured deliveries.
Reference project: MMPV “Hrabri” of the Bulgarian Navy — onboard optical connector installation at the shipyard.
On-site termination with automated polishing
We operate automated polishing rigs and precision measurement equipment that bring the full termination and certification cycle out of the factory and onto the job site. The typical workflow — cleave → ferrule fixation → 4–6 stage polish → end-face inspection → OTDR/IL/RL certification — runs on site with repeatable quality.
Concrete benefits:
- Non-standard patch cord lengths and topologies — produced on site instead of waiting on delivery.
- Hybrid links (e.g. LC-APC ↔ SC-UPC, MPO breakout to 12× LC) — combined to project spec.
- Repair of damaged trunk cables without replacing the full route — re-termination on site.
- Critical deadlines (ship deliveries, cable duct closure before flooding) — we work alongside other trades in the live project.
Termination technologies
- Fusion splice-on connectors (SOC) — mission-critical links; zero air gap at the fibre-to-ferrule boundary, typical insertion loss < 0.1 dB.
- Epoxy-cured connectors — classic approach for volume patch cord production; high repeatability and durability in marine / industrial environments.
- Field-installable (mechanical) connectors — for rapid restoration in duct or aerial infrastructure.
- Pre-polished pigtails + fusion splice — hybrid approach for drop points and FTTH subscriber installs.
Supported connector types
- Standard telecom: LC, SC, FC, ST, E2000, MU — in PC / UPC / APC polishes.
- Data centre: MPO / MTP (12/24 fibre), cassette breakouts, polarity A/B/C.
- Naval and defence: TFOCA-II, hermaphroditic ruggedised connectors, multi-channel shipboard feedthroughs with IP68 sealing and MIL-STD vibration / shock qualification.
- Industrial: hardened outdoor enclosures, EMC-shielded variants for power utility sites.
Polishing and end-face quality
Polish controls Return Loss (ORL) and is critical for dense WDM and high-speed links:
- APC (8° angle) — ORL > 60 dB. Mandatory for GPON, RF over fibre, cable TV distribution.
- UPC (ultra physical contact) — ORL > 50 dB. Standard for single-mode LAN / data centre.
- PC (physical contact) — ORL > 30 dB. Legacy applications.
Post-polish inspection: IEC 61300-3-35 (end-face visual assessment, zones A/B/C/D), IEC 61300-3-16 (radius of curvature), IEC 61300-3-32 (apex offset), IEC 61300-3-34 (fibre height). Every assembly ships with an interferometer report and end-face photograph in the as-built pack.
Applicable standards
- IEC 61754 — connector interface standards.
- IEC 61755 — optical geometric parameters.
- IEC 61300 — passive component test series (environmental, mechanical, optical).
- Telcordia GR-326 — single-mode connector performance requirements.
- MIL-STD-810 / MIL-PRF-29504 — military specifications for vibration, shock, temperature, humidity (naval and defence projects).
Deliverables
Every on-site patch cord or terminated route is handed over with full certification: IL/RL measurement, end-face inspection, OTDR trace (for long links) and as-built drawing with labelled ends.
